Chapter 17 "The Starlit"

July 19th 2000

Before they headed to an Island, owned by a friend of James Landan, Scott and Tany were going to spend a few days with the Wrights.  It was going to be Scott's mother Dawna's birthday.  Scott had asked Tany and she agreed.  Scott's Aunt was going to be there.  ( A little back story on Dusty Rhodes, she is a famous actress, you may some of her work: Riding in Africa, Tom Shore, Lands Isle, or my favorite Jumpy Jack.  Anyway, she has been in over forty feature films, did two Broadway plays, was nominated twice for an Oscar and has yet to win.  She started in acting on a famous soap that is no longer on, "Leading Lamp".  And has yet to quit. So there is the back story of Scott's Aunt, oh yeah and she liked to swear, you have been warned.)  Scott and Tany arrived and right away Dawna was there to greet them.
"Oh, goodness girl you have lost some weight."  "Yes a little, I was stressed."

"Ah, well I guess we need to have some of Alan's famous fried onions."  She smiled to Tany.  Dawna was very pretty and unfortunately she was twins with Dusty.  Dawna and Tany hugged, excited to see each other once again.  Scott sat back and watched them interact, he just loved how Tany got along with his family, but really why wouldn't they.
"Hey, you know I did come too."
"Oh you, give me a hug, why don't you call your mother more often, I worry."

Tany agreed.  "You see I have this lovely lady keeping me company." He put his arm around Tany.
"Oh sure blame me."  Michael came out too.
"Hey little bro, you still short I see."
"Shut up, you watch I am going to a lot taller than you."  There is seven years difference between Scott and Michael.
"Leave him alone, I still like him."  Tany said smiling at Michael.  They all walked into the house.

Tany loved coming to the Wrights, she always felt so at ease.  Dawna was a surfer and raised her boys to be, but she also raised them to respect women.  And she did a great job of it.  Although Dawna did most of the raising, Alan tried to teach the boys responsibility.  Alan would not be home for a few more hours, so Scott, Dawna and Michael decided to go surfing.  Dawna asked if Tany wanted to try and Tany said, "Not right now, you go be with your boys."  Dawna loved Tany as if she was her own and always loved how Tany would let her spend time with Scott, and not want his attention all the time.  Unlike that other girl that Scott dated, Dawna was happy that he dumped her.

Tany sat at the beach end and laid down on a blanket.  She could hear the laughter and the joy in her boyfriends voice.  He must feel exactly like Tany when she is on top of Midnight.

She sat up and sure enough, his face was lit up like a Christmas tree.  Maybe she would learn to surf, although water and Tany didn't get along.  But it was obviously something he loved and maybe she could try.

Tany felt dirt being flung at her.  "Hey."  she said turning around to see that is was Dusty.
"Oh My goodness you look really good."
"Oh shit, I damn well better, I paid an arm and a leg for it."  Tany started to get up, but Dusty stopped her.  "I can sit down just as easy as you can stand up."

As she sat down next to Tany, who had scooted over on the blanket.  "So he talked into going on a vacation, huh?"
"Yeah, I think we both need a little R and R"   "Yeah, I  hear you."
"So He tells me you are going to be in another movie.?"

"Oh shit, I am and I hate this one, I absolutely hate it. What I need is a TV show, I miss the soap days."
"Why, what do you mean?"
"Ah, hell, you fucking get up at 7, go to work and be done by like 5."
"That sounds nice."
"You better fucking believe it."

After they went surfing, which Scott Thanked Tany for.  Alan had arrived home and welcomed everybody.  Alan looked tired thought Tany.  Dawna started dinner, Tany asked if she could help.  This was always a surprise for Dawna, seeing as Scott, Michael and Alan never asked her.  "Of course I will never turn down help."  "Ok, what do you want me to do?"  Tany wasn't a great cook, but her mother taught her a few things.  "Can you grab that lettuce in there and chop it up."
"Sure."  Tany was chopping lettuce and Dawna was slicing up tomatoes.

Dusty walked into the kitchen, "Do you need an extra set of hands, little sis."
"Um, yeah, can you go to the garage and get me two cans of beets."  Dusty went and cam back, opened the beets and dumped them into the bowl.  Tany knew that the Rondens (Dawna's maiden name) were vegetarians, so she knew they would have a salad and some fish.  The timer dinged on the oven and Dawna bent down to retrieve the goodness.  Just then Scott, Michael and Alan all walked in carrying a birthday cake.

"Happy Birthday to the most beautiful woman on the planet." Alan said, giving Dawna a kiss.
"You guys, Now I know why you came to help?" Dawna hitting her sister.
"Happy Birthday to you too," Alan said looking at Dusty.  Alan and Dusty didn't get along, he did have to put up with her, she was after all Dawna's only sibling.  "Why, thanks?"  "Hey you two not today. Okay?" Scott stated.

At dinner everyone bowed their heads, except Dusty.  Tany noticed there was a little friction between Dusty and Scott.  She didn't notice it until now.  Scott had suggested that Tany sit by Dusty.  He must be upset with her.

As they ate dinner, Scott told them when the movie would be out and that they were invited to the premier.  Dusty, put her fork down, very dramatically got out of her chair and walked out of the room.
"What is the matter now, Dawna?"
"I don't know."
"I know."  Scott spoke up.
"What?"  Scott hesitated, "Son, what is the matter with her."
"She is mad because she can't come to the premier.  They won't let her."  Tany looked over to Scott, "Why not."

"Well, because the fucking bastard wouldn't hire me for a roll and I threw a hissy fit."
"No you threw a Diva fit."  Alan was red.
"This doesn't even concern you."  She said looking at Alan.
"The hell it does, you are in my house Dusty, where's your husband?"
"He was busy." Dawna said.
"No, he is banging every young star he can get his hands on."  "Alan that is not necessary."  Scott  gave Tany a nod.  He nudged his brother and the three got up and started to slowly leave.
"Oh, hell. Alan why don't you just accuse him of fucking your wife, like you think he did."  Tany hated any kind of argument especially with people she really liked.

"Sit back down, if anyone is going to leave this table it is going to be you." Alan said as he pointed to Dusty.  Scott, Michael and Tany all did as they were told. "Fine, but remember one thing, she is and always will be my sister."
"Alan, take it back."  Alan sat there, quiet.  Dusty stormed out of the house.  Everyone was quiet, until Scott said, "Tany is coming out with another Album."  Dawna who was crying, "Oh, really, I can't, I am sorry Tany."  and with that she ran out of the room and slammed her bedroom shut.

  4. Yes, Scott has a strange family. Especially his father. Although his aunt is pretty much the cause of all the drama, he still enjoys his visits.

    Thanks for reading Zhip!!

  5. Dusty reminds me a little of the other bitch..you know, she whos name shall not be mentioned, not by me anyways. Hope she's happy, she ruined every one day. Hard to believe they are sisters, Dawna is like the complete opposite of Dusty.
Not a good beginning for Scott and Tany's vacation, hope it gets better...edenz~
